Unlucky tonight lads, They looked sharp and wanted the win. Another good run out that will put us in good stead for the coming season. One thing i did notice that the new guy Tanrow got on his team mates back. I hope this is not gong to be something we hear every saturday!!! As a local chap - i will be at a lot of games and look forward to seeing some great football.

Couldn't agree more Blue and White - and what a first goal for the club by young Darren Mills who has pace to burn! Glad to see that we were all right about him when he destroyed us in the first 45 minutes at Whitton United on New Years Day!

Tiptree 3 – Heybridge 1
Thought tonight’s game was a pretty good all round performance and a great result – particularly following Saturday’s very poor game at Tilbury.
Thursday will be a different ball game of course but if the players continue to improve together as we play ‘normal’ opposition I can see Mr W having a few sleepless nights picking a starting eleven.

Hillbillies. So pleased you will be joining us on Thursday evening I am responsible for the public address system and will be reading from a team sheet although a number of copies will probably be produced so I do not see any problems in passing one on to you. At some point during the game please visit the white shed behind the goal where a copy of a team sheet should be there for you to obtain.

Many thanks

Although not 100% accurate, the attendance figure against Col Utd was 575.
This figure does not include Officials from either Club, Press and a host of football scouts who were in attendance - West Ham, Charlton and Chelsea to name just a few. The total was therefore probobly closer to 600. - Long may it last and oh to have this every home game.
Many Col Utd supporters and other first timers at Chapel Road were very complimentary and indicated their intentions to give us a look again - which can only be good for the future.
The Col U management and players were also extremely inpressed with the pitch and infact asked if their Reserves could play their games at Chapel Road. Don't think we could accommodate this unfortunately, but it does speak volumes about Adrian and Ness's ability to produce a Football League quaity pitch.
With a good local derby on Tuesday against Heybridge another bumper crowd could be in the offering.
Also, following a meeting with the local police today, a maximum capacity of 2,000 has been agreed for Thursday evening's match against Ipswich. With ticket sales going well since Tuesday, there seems certain to be a close to capacity gate. Tickets are on sale at the Clubhouse over the weekend and evenings next week. In addition these are on sale locally at Chris's Fish Bar and Rights the Estate Agency. They are also on sale through the normal ticket office at Portman Road, Ipswich.
In addition I have received several postal allications - the most distant being from Leicester.

Enjoyed the game on Wednesday. The pitch looked great and the lads did well against a strong U's squad. Sitting near some U's fans I know that that were surprised by the quality of our play even though the U's win was comfortable enough.

The first half was a bit utrgid with both teams mis-placing passes, but considering the strength of our opponents we had more possession that we were entitled to. Shade and White looked very comfortable on the rare occasions that the U's played a long high ball and Murfet also impressed me with his defensive work, which to me has not always been his best suit.
For the U's Kem Izzet caught my eye as did Phil Ifill. Very disappointed with the big lump playing centre forward. (Was it Platt?) OK he had a nice touch and quick feet, but when you are that big you have got to put yourself about. Their left winger didn't impress me either.
The U's were a different team in the second half with Gillespie on. He looked the youngest player on the pitch, I thought he was an academy player. But he was so positive and his pace and eye for the goal troubled our re-jigged back four where Townrow was oustanding. Johnny Watson also looked very positive when he came on.
Looked like there was more there than expected, be interested to know what the gate was.

Please be advised that Saturdays friendly at Tilbury will not be going ahead.
Apparently, our hosts do not have enough players to put out a team.
If an alternation opposition is found, then details will be put up on the site

Note the first pre-season at Clacton. Will there be any match details?
On the subject of Clacton it appears from the Essex Senior League website that they attempted to switch to the ESL, but the FA said no. Apart from a jump to Step 5 without promotion why on earth did they want to switch?

Blimey lads, is this broken? New season coming up fast and nothing whatsoever on here! See Colin has added further quality to an already strong squad and off to a good start the other day. Good luck to everyone at the club for the coming season and let's see if 'Wally' can repeat his 'back to back' feats of the past! Come on the reds (No Ant, not those ones!).

I myself had two teams over at the Gorleston Rangers tournament and it was a terrific day out and likewise with no incidents but it DOES go on Vas and to stop it not one incident should go unreported. There are teams in the ISYFL who are refusing to play certain teams in their league fron a north suffolk club unless there are league officials there because of problems with parents so I'm afraid it does go on but I do agree it seems more at the age groups U11 onwards.

To follow up the previous coments made about the under eights football.I spent yesterday morning on the Green at Great Bentley watching a football festival run by the Bentley Youth football Club for the local schools years 2 to 6.There was no incidents during the whole day. The parents urged their kids on the players showing no disrepect on any of the Refs decision in fact they set a good exarmple to us all , so what was Sir Trevor Brooking on about. The FA should set about bringing the Premiership players into to line so then some of the kids may not try to mimic what they see on the "Box"

Didn’t mean my post to sound like I was agreeing/disagreeing – just referring to some Trevor Brooking comments mentioned on Talk Sport which were evidently taken into account while making these decisions.

Vas – I agree that in the countless number of youth games I have been involved with or watched the percentage of bad experiences has been very low and I totally agree it SHOULD be down to the clubs to sort out.

Kenbee – for the select few that make it to a clubs advanced or academy levels I think they are given the chance to express themselves and in various positions but I also think that at normal club level the emphasis seems to be more on where the player can benefit the team rather than what would benefit the player during his development.
While I agree that most nations seem to have left us behind when it comes to individual expression there are also unsavory elements that have appeared in the game – suffice to say that tackling is becoming a thing of the past.
On the other hand, who is to say that a ‘non-contact’ style of football would not be a better spectacle.

I have no problem with the ban on competitive football for under 8's. I would go further and prohibit competitive games until the last year of Primary school and then only competitive between schools.
Under 11's should not be bogged down with tactics, positional play and the need to cope with the physical elements of the game and of course the need to win.
The current European championship is showing how far behind we are in developing ball skills at an early age. I believe that in the Netherlands at Ajax FC they give all their junior players a ball when signed by the club and then are told to love it, kiss it, and cuddle it. Not thump the ball at the opposition and hope that they will make a mistake and give it back (which often happens at all levels in the UK).
The other problem about playing at too young an age is that the big boys will thrive and those that do not have what many consider the ideal British footballers bodyshape (i.e. built like a brick s*** house) do not get much of chance.
The current European Chamionships is showing just how far we lag behind. Every team has a good number of players who do not panic if given a ball when marked closely, can take the ball up to and past defenders, (we used to call it dribbling, but it went out with Alf Ramsey) pass with the outside of the foot (the most difficult passing method and the most effective) and are comfortable with their weaker foot.
Lets talk about body shape. Look at the giant midfielder who play for Holland (I can't spell or pronounce his name). He is massive, but subtle and skilful. In this country his size would not be tolerated in midfield. He would be converted to centre forward or centre half very quickly. And every team seems to have some little ones (by this I mean under 5'7"). You have to be very lucky and very very good in the UK to progress if you vertically challenged, yet there are loads of good little ones about, but they are plying their trade at level 4 and below.
There you go I have got that off my chest and jumped off my soapbox.

I was being fair B&W in forty years plus of reporting football for the now defunct Green Un. I had may times to watch youth football and count on one hand the times that at ther under eights level there were problems. the majority of the parents are reponsible it only the rare minority that abuse the officials this happens more with the older youth games It can be stopped with extreme measures by the clubs and the Fa

To be fair Vas I don’t think it’s actually about football – it’s about parents and managers.

I’m sure anyone who has been involved in youth football will tell you some of the things that go on at games with parents and managers screaming at kids, abusing each other and fighting between opposing parents is becoming quite common. It’s disgusting and I’m sure you can imagine the effect this has on young kids.

Will it effect the long term development of the boys ? – probably not.
Will it stop the bad behavior ? – probably not as the irony of the situation is that they only have to wait a year and they can carry on.

Try Wivenhoe Isaac - if you mention the word "footballer" you'll get a game no problem - won't even bother with a trial.

Have to agree with all previous posts regarding the presentation night. Well done to all involved, especially Mr Bateman. I note that on the main page there is no mention of Shadey's 'special' award to Lee Owen. Well done Lee, one of many well deserved awards on the night!!!! (Just kidding mate, just kidding)

Just like to echo everything said by Ant and Bronco.
An excellent night, exceptionally well organised by John Bateman and conducted by Dave Buckby.
Certainly, when those who didn't attend get to hear of the quality of the night, then we'll need the Albert Hall next year to fit everyone one in.
I didn't hear anything but praise for the venue, food, service, trohpies, raffle and organisation and the fact that everyone had a smile on their face come the end spoke volumes.
A comment made to me by the Ridgeons Representative, Kevin Antcliffe and his wife was that the room was full of people who seemed to enjoy each others company and came across as one big happy family. A football club can ask nothing more than that.
Could I finish by thanking those responsible for my long service award. I must admit that with the cost of petrol, rather than the V8 I'd have preferred the 3.0 litre version but hey, any size Jag is better than nothing and the personalised number plate is the icing on the cake.
